The overall ranking follows the average of the eight scores. We deliberately do not crown a winner for every situation, the strengths are too far apart: Tinder wins reach, Hinge usability, and embla, provisionally and by its announced concept, pricing fairness, verification and privacy. On seriousness, Hinge and embla are tied.

Among the five apps you can download today, Dua comes first with 3.6 points, ahead of Hinge at 3.4 and Bumble at 3.1. Tinder scores 2.8, Badoo 2.6. Dua is carried by its Albanian fit and an even gender balance, Hinge by its seriousness and the best usability in the field. Tinder has the largest reach but loses on cost, privacy and seriousness.
On paper, embla sits at the top with 4.3 points, but as a preview score, because the app is not in the App Store yet. We derive seriousness, pricing fairness and Albanian fit from its rules: no swiping, contact only through a specific sentence or a specific photo, ‘who likes you’ free for everyone. Verification rests on announced photo matching with a selfie that nobody could test before launch, and reach, usability, gender balance and privacy only show in daily use. All eight scores are therefore provisional, and we will re-check them after launch.
Albanian fit counts as much as any other criterion, because this test looks at the Albanian community in German-speaking countries. Take that criterion out for yourself and the picture changes: Tinder, Bumble and Hinge would sit between a quarter and a third of a point higher, and Hinge would move ahead of Dua. So read the matrix from your own goal. Someone after reach reads a different column than someone who cares most about verification or a lasting relationship.
