How we tested
Six apps went through the test: Tinder, Bumble, Hinge, Badoo, Dua and embla. Each was scored across eight criteria, from 1 to 5: seriousness, pricing fairness, gender balance, cultural relevance, safety and verification, user experience, data protection and reach.
One thing matters for reading the results: the overall score is an average. An app with 5 points for reach and 2 for seriousness can end up level with an app that has the opposite profile. That is why we publish category winners instead of a single overall champion.
The results at a glance
In 2026, Tinder remains the app with by far the largest reach (5 out of 5) but scores weakly on seriousness and pricing fairness (2 out of 5 each). Bumble sits solidly in the middle, built around the principle that women make the first move. Badoo has plenty of volume but the weakest scores for data protection and cost.
Hinge earns the best user experience score in the test (5 out of 5) and is the most relationship-focused of the big apps. Dua and embla serve the Albanian community niche: Dua with the larger community, embla with the best scores of the entire test for seriousness, pricing fairness, verification and data protection, while its pool is still small (2 out of 5 for reach).
The 2026 category winners
Reach: Tinder. User experience: Hinge. Serious, relationship-focused dating: Hinge and embla tied. Cultural niche (Albanian and Balkan): embla ahead of Dua, because embla scores clearly better on verification and fairness. Fairest free model: embla, where ‘who likes you’ is free for everyone. Best data protection: also embla.
This split is not a polite draw, it is the honest outcome of the scores. A niche app cannot beat Tinder on reach, and Tinder cannot copy the seriousness of a specialized app.
Which app is best for whom
If you want maximum choice, take Tinder and accept its casual-leaning tone. If you want a serious relationship and the best user experience, Hinge is the right pick. If you prefer women to make the first move, choose Bumble.
If you are specifically looking within the Albanian community, Dua and embla are the two names that matter: Dua for the larger pool, embla for verified profiles, a fair free model and clearly serious intentions. A like is called a ‘spark’ there, and seeing who likes you never sits behind a paywall.
